Here's my style guide superhero artwork. This is the third phase of my involvement with DC characters. Creating concepts and design drawings for the film costumes ultimately informs the illustrations. Its a pipeline that was very effective for quality and efficiency. My illustrations found their way onto countless products including full size standees, toys, wall stickers, clothes and blankets, etc. Here's the real question, is it okay for a grown man to pose for pictures with his full size standees?
Printed muscles on a supershirt! What better way than to feel like a superhero? We also made flat textured versions for those that bring their own muscles. Because they were created to scale, I was a able to use my print artwork files from costume fabrication as the basis for these shirt prints. Sure its a different print method, but the cool thing is if you wear these shirts, you're literally wearing the same artwork as the film heroes.
I enjoy illustration because your images are directly seen by an audience. As a kid I was always fascinated by the beautiful artwork on model kit boxes and other toys, and beyond making my mom proud, I hope that one day a kid sees my work and is inspired towards a career in art.
Mansart created composition concepts for Batman v Superman Facebook stickers. We worked to capture iconic poses that would capture the feel of the movie as well as the personalities of the individual characters.
Speed Racer illustrations were my first foray into creating Style Guide artwork, which led to quite a few projects since. The goal was to create incredibly detailed illustrations to match the vehicles from the film. I very much enjoyed working with the incredible team at Warner Bros Consumer Products.
